This 2-day event, celebrating Cincinnati’s blossoming music and arts community, offers free family-friendly fun for all – featuring live music, craft beers, local food and goods vendors, a Kid Zone, obstacle course, live art and more.
Casey Schneider, co-owner of Essential Productions, said he feels Cincinnati has been lacking an event like Paradise on the Point – a truly free event featuring nationally touring bands and producers.
“We want to offer an event that gives everyone a chance to enjoy the music festival atmosphere that people pay hundreds and sometimes thousands of dollars to experience,” Casey said. “We want this event to eventually grow to the size that it’s drawing people to Cincinnati who’ve never been here before.”
Essential Productions co-owner Zack Szabo said this event is also a way to show appreciation to local music fans.
“We receive such tremendous support from our fans that we are always looking for ways to give back,” Zack said. “What better way to do that than with a free event.”
Zack said the idea for Paradise on the Point really started to take form when Essential Productions teamed up with SweetWater Brewing Co., who will be bringing a wide variety of their craft beers for festival attendees to enjoy.
Bob Berman, SweetWater marketing manager, said they decided to partner with Essential Productions because supporting local arts and culture is a priority to the Atlanta-based brewery.
“It is our responsibility to find and support the heady folks that are contributing to the greater good of their local communities regardless of location. Essential Productions and Paradise on the Point is just that…a group of amazing people got together to put on a FREE, ridiculously-stacked festival that features local, regional and national talent, honestly we’re just lucky to be included,” Berman said.
With all it has to offer, this event is definitely not one to miss! Here’s some more information about what you can expect this weekend at Paradise on the Point:
The music lineup (schedule can be found below) includes a variety of incredible local and national acts, including Portland-based producer Emancipator – a major name in the electronic music scene – who is headlining day two of the festival.
Emancipator said it’s been a while since he’s played in Cincinnati, and that he’s excited about coming back for Paradise on the Point.
“We always enjoy playing free community centered events and are really looking forward to the show,” Emancipator said.
Emancipator will take the stage Saturday, along a festival favorite Keller Williams, who plays his own brand of acoustic dance music, offering a very unique, improvisation-heavy performance that is sure to get the crowd moving.
Friday’s acts include headliners Pink Talking Fish, presenting a unique fusion of Pink Floyd, The Talking Heads and Phish, and Manic Focus, who combines vocal samples from a variety of genres with solid original beats to create an extraordinary, energizing sound.
“Ohio is one of those states with incredible energy surrounding live music. I cannot think of a show I’ve performed in this state where the audience hasn’t been instrumental in lifting the music higher. It’s so cool that Essential Productions is offering a free weekend of live music to show appreciation to the community. We are psyched to be a part of it!” said Pink Talking Fish bassist Eric Gould.
Paradise on the Point features several local acts as well, including Columbus bands Devil’s Lettuce and Urban Tropic and Cincinnati favorites Peridoni, Ernie Johnson From Detroit and Strange Mechanics.
Peridoni vocalist/bass player Kaleb Perrin said they are really looking forward to playing at Paradise on the Point with acts such as Keller, Emancipator and Pink Talking Fish.
“Saywer Point is a key piece of Cincinnati, so it’s awesome that Essential Productions is bringing music there and that we get to be a part of it,” Kaleb said.
